Portchester Castle & Southsea Castle Wedding

Sarah and Alex were married at St Marys Church in the grounds of Portchester Castle a medieval castle near Fareham in Hampshire. What an amazing location. I’d have liked to capture some aerial shots of the location with our small drone, but it was so windy on the day, the poor thing would have been blown out to sea. The church itself is nearly 900 years old and the approach through the old gateway is certainly impressive.

Their reception was held in Southsea Castle, somewhere we shot many years ago when we first started out in wedding photography. The couple and their guests all jumped on a double decker London bus to get to the venue. On the way there, they jumped out with Carol to take some portraits on one of the seaside shelters where they used to meet. Southsea Castle is another fascinating place. One of King Henry VIII’s castles, drinks are held on the courtyard among the old cannons, with the wedding breakfast taking place in a small marquee in the courtyard
