Sunset Wedding Portrait in vineyard at Denbies wine estate

Summer Wedding at Denbies Wine Estate

A really hot day in July made for the perfect weather for Sophie & Rob’s wedding last year. This is the first time I remember being at Denbies when the vines were in leaf. All of our previous weddings have always been in the late summer or winter, when the poor vines just look like dead sticks. Sophie got ready at her family home. So Carol and I started there. Then later on during the morning, Carol got a lift over to where Rob was getting ready, so she could capture that side of the story.

The ceremony was held at St Mary’s Church in Ewell.

We finally made our way over to Denbies, for the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and of course the party afterwards. Although for 95% of a wedding day, we never ask our couples to move, smile or do anything for us. In fact we prefer that people forget we are there. But when it comes to portraits, we need to take control for 20 minutes. So as the weather was so fine, we knew that we should get a good sunset. So discussed with Sophie and Rob about taking them out, when the light was looking good. They were totally up for this and I’m so glad we chose to do this. I love this set of portraits. Just the perfect light and conditions. Always a nice addition to the main story which is shot in a pure documentary style.

Alongside the candid shots of our guests, we had some couples photographs towards the end of the day when the light was beautiful and the guests were enjoying a drink. These photos are simply stunning and will be treasured. This was the reason we chose Paul and Carol – so much experience

    1. Thanks Robin. Loved shooting in the vines in that beautiful evening light. Any photographer would. It was the perfect conditions for getting some very memorable couple portraits.

  1. Dude!!! those images rock. You’ve captured the emotion, the story and most importantly of all the light and made an epic collection of photos.

    1. Thank you. It was rather special light that evening, always worth asking a couple if they don’t mind doing a 10 minute extra portraits session. You never know what magic might happen.
