Frensham Hall Wedding with Outdoor Ceremony

Jess and James’ outdoor wedding at Frensham Hall in Surrey. After a morning spent in London where James and his groomsmen were challenged to some fantastic Chinese Door Games by Jess’s bridesmaids, it was time to drive to the reception venue. It was raining when the couple arrived, but luckily the sun soon popped through the clouds and the weather stayed mostly dry for the rest of the day.

We hadn’t shot an outdoor wedding ceremony at the Hall before, so that was an interesting experience. The bridesmaid’s and bride have a long aisle to walk down through the flower beds to get to the main area, which is set around a small pond. The ceremony itself takes place on a little raised area with a brick built canopy. The only downside to this is that it was rather crowded in there what with two registrars with a small table, myself and Lee the videographer. There wasn’t a lot of room to move around. Carol at least had the freedom to move around among the guests and capture things from a distance. This is where having two photographers at a wedding has so many advantages – when I get stuck in one position, Carol often has the ability to capture things that I wouldn’t be able to if shooting solo.

For the some of the wedding portraits, we tried a classic shot of the couple walking down the fabulous main staircase at the venue. I love there result. The light from the window is just perfect for this style of image. We also managed a couple of extra portraits in the late afternoon sun to give some alternative options.

Also loved the dancing pictures. It’s so much fun to shoot when the guests really let their hair down and just enjoy themselves. There are literally hundreds of frames we could have chosen from.

A lovely review from the couple

First things first – the wedding photos we got back from the Tansleys were stunning. Every time we look back at our wedding photos we fall in love with them again. Paul and Carol captured the day perfectly. The emotions we all felt, the personality of our guests, and the grandeur of the venue have been preserved in a way we couldn’t even begin to imagine.

But it isn’t just the photos we’re grateful for. Paul and Carol, while shooting, are as slick and unobtrusive as they promise. They’re also an absolute delight as a pair. From our first meeting together, to any pre-wedding calls, and during quiet moments on the day, their personality, advice and assurance is something that we’ll remember and appreciate as a big part of our special day. We can’t thank Carol and Paul enough, and I couldn’t recommend them more.
