Guildford is our nearest big city, so we consider ourselves to be Guildford wedding photographers. We live 20 minutes to the south of the city in the tiny village of Headley, which is on the Surrey / Hampshire border. Therefore we obviously cover all of the local wedding venues, some of which are listed below. If you are getting married in or around Guildford, why not get in touch. We’re happy to help with ideas on how well different wedding venues work in images.
Carol and I started shooting weddings together 10 years ago now, after previously shooting only fashion magazines. So we’ve had ample chance to capture hundreds of weddings at many of Guildford’s beautiful wedding venues, of which there are plenty to choose from.
Here are some of the venues we’ve worked at near to Guildford. This isn’t a complete list, as we don’t blog every wedding we shoot. But hopefully it might inspire with ideas as to how these venues might look for your own wedding day.

Guildford weddings by Carol & Paul
The historic town of Guildford is the county town of Surrey. A town you say? I’m amazed at this too. You’d imagine Guildford was a city, as it has a huge cathedral, used famously in the Omen films, dominating the hilltop as you enter the town from the southern side. But apparently, even though it has applied for city status a few times, it’s never been granted, so officially remains a town.
Guildford sits about halfway between London and Portsmouth, on the A3, the main road out of London heading south west. It’s roots date from Saxon times and its position on the River Wey network established it as an important town. If you’re wedding guests are staying in Guilford, then a visit to the National Trust run Dapdune Wharf is a nice day trip. There’s even the option to take a boat trip from here. While talking day trips, I should also mention Winkworth Arboretum, another NT property which makes for a fabulous walk among the vast array of trees especially in spring and autumn.
The city centre is one of my our favourite places to go shopping in the area. The old cobbled main street, which was recently refurbished makes for a delightful walk among the local shops. It’s far removed from the modern day shopping mall experience, which so lacks any character.
