Outdoor Wedding at Penton Park
Penton Park is one of my favourite venues in Hampshire. I shot there for the first time in August the previous year so was very exited to return again twice this year to shoot a Penton Park outdoor wedding. This was before they had gotten the full wedding licence for the pergola there, so the wedding was conducted by a celebrant friend.
What a glorious summers day. When England has a proper summer it really is delightful. Blue skies, white clouds, it was almost too much, as the grass was getting a bit too dry that year. But it made the perfect weather for an outdoor wedding.
This was a great wedding to attend. It was very relaxed and laid back, I like that. There was no formal sit down meal, instead the guests just sat in the garden at some tresses tables and helped themselves to a buffet of delicious food. Things of special interest during the wedding. The shotgun cufflinks that Jake and his team wore were really cool as was his unusual wedding ring, which he bought from the USA and was inlaid with horn. I also loved shooting their couple portraits. As with a lot of our wedding couples, Jake really wasn’t relaxed in front of the camera. However, that’s what we’re good at – making people feel relaxed and look relaxed in the photos. So the results are lovely. It was also fun when their daughter ran over to join them and I just carried on shooting. It’s very hard to pose kids in pictures, so much better to simply let them be themselves and just capture what happens.
