Traditional Wet Shave

Traditional Wet Shave – Wedding Day Groom Preparation

What better way for a groom to treat himself on the wedding day, than by having a traditional wet shave – done by a professional, of course,  with a proper cut-throat razor.

The professional in question at this wedding, was Patrick Bryan from The Wet Shaving Company.

Steve, the groom, had booked Patrick to shave himself, his dad and his father-in-law to be on the morning of his wedding to Emma, so I arrived early at Old Thorns Manor Hotel to capture the action. As a wedding photographer it’s quite rare to capture the groom getting ready – and in all honesty grooms preparation is generally a 5 minute procedure of putting on a shirt, suit, tie and cufflinks – there usually isn’t much to photograph, I’d normally suggest the wedding photographers time is far better spent with the bride, as there are a lot more steps of preparation with the girls and bridesmaids. However, given the right timings and locations, I will always try and cover some of the groom prep too. I’m a total perfectionist in everything I do in life. As my good old dad always told me growing up, if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. I live my life by that motto, it shows in many aspects of the way I do things. I shoot great photos because I want them to be that good. If they weren’t I’d be the one left unsatisfied with the results.  Although I’ve never experienced a traditional wet shave myself, I have total respect for the art. It was a privilege and a wonderful experience to talk to Patrick and also to capture some great images of Steve enjoying this unique experience.

Although I must admit I couldn’t get the thought of Sweeney Todd out of my head while watching that cut-throat at Steve’s throat…

Traditional Wet Shave

Want to book your groom a traditional wet shave for his wedding day? Why not contact Patrick Bryan – Traditional Wet Shave. I was really impressed by the whole procedure, he clearly cared about his art and it looked a wonderful experience to enjoy. You even get a temple massage at the end, what a great way to finish.
