Helen & Andrew’s Village Hall Wedding
A Headley Village Hall wedding! I thought Cain Manor was close, Headley Village Hall is literally within 5 minutes walking distance from our house. So when Helen & Andrew initially got in contact, I was excited to see how they’d transform the village hall we pass by on a daily basis. We both love village hall weddings, it’s fascinating how people can take a blank canvas and make them feel special for their own wedding day celebrations. Lots of people spend a lot of money on their wedding venues but then add no personality to it, with a village hall – it’s all about the couple and what they add. We like that, it shows spirit and creativity.
Their ceremony was at St Mary’s Church in Bramshott. Another of our local villages and a church that Carol and I have passed many times and always wondered when we’d get to shoot there.
This was a wedding day full of laughter. From start to finish, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple laugh so much. It was fantastic to photograph. Helen got ready at home in Guildford in the morning, that was the furthest I had to travel the whole day.
It was strange doing the family group photos on the village green, I run over that green three times a week, it’s part of my regular route. For the portraits we did some shots in front of some bamboo at the edge of the green as the light was great there, then we all jumped in the car and drove to Arford Common, literally across the road from our house, to shoot some lovely images in amongst the trees. It made for a great backdrop.
