Great Fosters Wedding
Back in the days when I was a fashion photographer, we often used to do fashion shoots at Great Fosters in Egham, Surrey. So it always feel great to shoot a wedding there. Aimee & Josh booked me to shoot their wedding solo. They were a bit unlucky with the weather, it was a very cold wet grey day. But I don’t think it spoiled their enjoyment of the day.
The vicar was one of the old-school types who didn’t allow photography in the church during the ceremony – which is always such a shame. Always check with your own vicar if they allow any photography during the ceremony, they all have different rules. As a documentary wedding photographer, capturing those beautiful natural moments as they happen is the key to my work. So missing out on that part of the day just feels a little sad. I’d love to be able to capture it for my couples – but when the vicar insists you sit down and don’t raise your camera, there’s not much you can do about it.
Some of my favourite images of the wedding day came later on, in the evening. I especially love the shots of Aimee hugging her guests in the receiving line, the shot of her Grandfather is just beautiful, but I’m sure they will all be fantastic images to look back on in years to come. I also love the first dance shots, which worked really well in the Great Fosters Barn, decorated with fairy lights and with all the guests behind the couple.
