Gate Street Barn Wedding | Anna & Matt

Gate Street Barn is nestled in the heart of the Surrey Hills, 5 miles south of Guildford. It’s only a 30 minute drive from our home, so it’s another local venue for us. May 4th 2014 was a gorgeous spring day for Anna & Matt’s wedding. Anna and the bridal party got ready at Slades Farm, near Guildford in a fabulous room with a balcony walkway, which made for some interesting images for us as photographers. One of my favourite shots already this year is the reflection shot of Anna having her make-up done. Shot through the window from the outside, to show the lovely Surrey countryside and the sun shining on the gardens and makes a great scene setter. Not all wedding images should be simply about the people involved – a good set of wedding pictures combine people, emotions, expressions, smiles and laughter, as well as the setting and some “arty” images. These will blend together to tell a complete story and make a whole album. Even in this compacted collection of images, it’s easy to get a real feel of the fun that Anna & Matt had on their wedding day. We never like to pose people during the day and far prefer to capture natural moments by simply observing the scenes the day brings. However, sometimes we get asked to shoot the boys messing about etc. and we are always willing to oblige. Carol’s images of the boys are fantastic – I have no idea why they are doing a bouquet toss – but, it’s not our job to ask, it’s our job to capture what goes on and I’m sure Anna & Matt will laugh about that shot for years to come.

This is a condensed set of images from Anna & Matt’s wedding, their final collection contained over 800 images. If you are planning a wedding at Gate Street Barn, hopefully these images will give you an idea of how your own wedding could look at the venue, although obviously every wedding is uniquely different.
